~January Financials/Minutes: February minutes, Sally motioned, Mikel seconded. Motion carried.
Mikel made a motion to approve the February financials and pay all outstanding bills, Sally seconded. Motion carried.
~Kent gave his NRCS report as written. A new Area Structure has been proposed with five areas instead of four. CSP sign up application cutoff is February 7th. EQIP applications are continuous. There is a back log of nearly 68 EQIP applications. In all funding pools there are 36 applications for over $492,000 dollars of practices. ADAPT Network informational meeting will be held March 4th at Davis Lodge. NRCS will continue to work on layout and design projects with applications. Lack of a Farm Bill has halted any new applications for CRP.
~Bev gave her report as written. Primary Elections were held March 18th. Gov. Quinn gave his Budget Address on March 26th. The SWCD’s numbers will decrease by $108,000 with the Governor’s proposed 2015 budget. SWCD’s operating funds remains at $3 million whether the tax increase expires or not. HB 5606 would amend the Prevailing Wage Act to provide the term “public works” does not include work done for purposes of soil and water conservation, whether or not done under public supervision or paid for wholly or in part out of public funds and performed directly by an owner or person who has legal control on agriculture lands.
~Ross gave his RC report as written. The Partners for Conservation Program has received $6900 for FY13 projects. We will not be funding Howard Heatherwick’s SSRP project. 30 contractors attended the Contractor’s Breakfast at Davis Lodge sponsored by Martin Equipment. The Annual Meeting was held March 12th at Davis Lodge, due to weather the speaker did not attend and only 25 of the 50 who RSVP’d attended; no meeting was held. Conservation Day will be May 8th. There has been an overflow of volunteers. McLean County Farm Bureau will cover busing cost and Sportsmen’s club will cover the $500 building charge. Attended the Pheasants Forever Spring Fling and worked at the habitat table.
~Jackie gave her Watershed report as written. Still waiting for the construction of Tim Kraft and Mike O’Neal’s wetlands to begin. The plan is to begin as soon as the weight limits are off the roads and things have dried out. Looking for another wetland site that will not be enrolled in CRP, but will be full funded by Coca-Cola. The Adapt Network meeting was held March 4th. Will be working with Don Brucker to get the 88 fields enrolled and there will also be 5 strip trials for the CIG and 5 trials to utilize the WWF money.
~Stephanie gave her AC report as written. Spring Fish and Tree sales are going on; so far there are 49 fish orders and 17 tree orders. Attended the Ag Awards Dinner February 21st at the Double Tree Hotel. There was an Area 2 meeting on March 11th in Morris. The Cropping Systems Seminar was held March 13th at Heartland Community College with around 125 in attendance. The Ag Breakfast was held March 20th at the Double Tree Hotel, our handout was included in the goodie bags.
