The Board of Directors of the McLean County SWCD had their regular board meeting on August 9, 2017 at the USDA Service Center, 402 N. Kays Drive, Normal. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Mike Kelley at 7:30 a.m.. Directors present were Mikel Fonger, Howard Heatherwick, and Sally Breese. District employee present was Stephanie Musselman. NRCS employee present was Matt Bell.
~Financials/Minutes: July minutes, Howard motioned, Sally seconded. Motion Carried. Howard made a motion to approve the financials, Mikel seconded. Motion carried. Mikel made a motion to approve the August checks for payment. Howard seconded. Motion carried.
~The Watershed report was submitted as written.
~ Stephanie gave the District report as written. The new NRCS Assistance Agreement paperwork has been signed and submitted, just waiting for official start date to be announced. A pre-proposal and signed agreement have been submitted for the new CRP agreement. Work can begin any time. We are still waiting on $12,612 in funds from the FY17 Contribution Agreements. There are also unclaimed funds for the CRP agreement that we were able to bill for the extra work we completed. The amount of left over funds and amount we will receive is unknown until the agreement ends on September 30, 2017. The District newsletter is almost finished, just waiting on pictures of the scholarship winners. Work on the Watershed newsletter will begin soon. The golf outing was held August 8th at Crestwicke Country Club. Eleven teams competed this year and the winning team included Mike Funk, Chuck Runge, and Mike McNeely. The Strategic Plan was approved as written at Summer Conference. Work on the Implementation Plan will now begin.
~ NRCS report. Matt gave a quick NRCS update. The District Forester still needs to finish CRP plans, however he is behind and Matt may have to finish them. One new EQIP contract has been signed after a third round of funding was completed due to extra funds.
~New Business: Mike Kelly presented the scholarship winners with their certificates and checks. The next Board Meeting was set for September 13, 2017 at 7:30 a.m. at the USDA Service Center. The meeting concluded at 8:30 a.m. and employee evaluations began.
