The Board of Directors of the McLean County SWCD had their regular meeting on February 11, 2015 following the Annual Meeting at the USDA Service Center, 402 N. Kays Drive, Normal. The meeting was called to order by Mike Kelley, Chairman. Directors present were Sally Breese and Beverly Miller. District employees present were Jackie Kraft, Ross Fogle and Stephanie Musselman. NRCS employees present were Kent Bohnhoff and Matt Bell.
~Financials/Minutes: January minutes, Bev motioned, Sally seconded. Motion carried. Sally made a motion to approve the January financials since there was not a quorum at the January meeting, Bev seconded. Motion carried. Bev made a motion to approve the February financials, Sally seconded. Motion carried. Sally made a motion to pay all outstanding checks, Bev seconded. Motion carried. Bev made a motion to donate $50.00 to the State Envirothon, Sally seconded. Motion carried. Sally made a motion to transfer $10,000 from the Operations Account to the General Account, Bev seconded. Motion Carried. Bev motioned to adopt IRS Standard Mileage Rates which increased to 57.5 cents/mile, Sally seconded. Motion carried.
~Kent gave his report. Has been busy working on contract reviews and sending practice reminders. At the beginning of the year there were 48 CSP contracts for payment, now down to 15. No approvals have been done for EQIP, still in holding pattern.
~Ross gave his RC report as written. Mike O’Neil’s WASCOBs are ready to be paid, just need signature on check. The rest of FY13 funds will go to Robert Kelmm’s water way project which construction has been completed on. FY14 funds will also be used on the Klemm project and must be completed by May 21, 2015. Conservation Day will be May 14, 2015 at the Interstate Building. We will not be getting seedlings for students this year to keep down on cost. We are in contact with AISWCD again to get insurance and liability. The CRP newsletter is ready to go out and the cost will be split between Pheasants Forever and CREP. We will be hosting a Pond and Land Management meeting on March 17th at Davis Lodge. DNR CPO, DNR Fisheries, and PF Farm Bill Biologists will be speaking. There will also be booths from many organizations. FOE is having a Boating Safety class March 14th. Helped man a booth for FOE at the Fin & Feather Expo.
~Jackie gave her Watershed report as written. The Crump wetland construction is complete except for some tiling. The Coke wetland is designed and ready for construction. Jarrod Boyle has been selected as contractor. The Adapt Grower Meeting was February 5th. There was a good turnout and the group has a great discussion and suggestions on how to improve the program. Gave presentation with Don Brucker at ISU meeting on January 28th. 2015 applications are available and will be mailed to last year’s participants with a goal of 88 fields in the watershed and 10 strip trials, two of which will be timing trials and 8 will be rate trials. Will be meeting soon for the IEPA Grant to discuss a media strategy for the upcoming survey that will be hand delivered to a sampling of water customers. The shoreline and lunker project has been postponed until summer 2015. Tree and brush removal will take place before March 31st to avoid bat problems. The MRV drinking watershed meeting will be February 25th. Fix a Leak outreach will be March 21st at four local hardware stores.
