~December Financials/Minutes: December minutes, Bev motioned, Sally seconded. Motion carried.
Mikel made a motion to approve the December financials and pay all outstanding bills, Bev seconded. Motion carried.
~Kent gave his NRCS report as written. CSP sign up application cutoff has been changed to February 7th. An email was sent to producers to generate more interest and applications. EQIP applications are continuous. There is a back log of nearly 60 EQIP applications; January 17th will be the second cutoff with a January 31st funding cutoff. ADAPT Network grower meeting will be held January 14th. NRCS will continue to work on layout and design projects with applications. Lack of a Farm Bill has halted any new applications for CRP.
~Bev gave her report as written. Rich Nichols, Executive Director of the AISWCD plans to retire at the end of August 2014. The Illinois General Assembly should be going back into session in the next week. The Farm Bill has been extended for 90 days. The federal EPA has proposed to reduce the national renewable fuel mandate by 1.4 billion next year. Farmers are encouraged to voice their opinion by January 28th, as this would take away the demand for corn and lower the biodiesel production target, ultimately affecting the soybean oil demand.
~Ross gave his RC report as written. Additional funding for the Partners for Conservation Program has been requested. Still waiting to hear about the SSRP funding for Howard Heatherwick’s project. The Agri-News featured two articles on the SWCD Cover Crop Tour. The Conservation Cropping Systems meeting will be March 13th at HCC. $30,000 was received for work completed for the Contribution Agreement with NRCS. The Sportsmen’s Club Banquet will be February 1st and we will be donating $50 towards the spring tree sale.
~Jackie gave her Watershed report as written. There are two wetlands that have been designed and are scheduled to be constructed this year. Jackie will be meeting with World Wildlife and ADM on January 13th in Decatur. The Adapt grower meeting will be January 14th at David Lodge. Jackie will be meeting with TNC and the Indian Creek Watershed Steering Committee on January 16th. The Annual Meeting will be March 12th at Davis Lodge with Times Past catering. The McLean Co. Farm Bureau requested old photos to celebrate their 100yr anniversary.
~Stephanie gave her AC report as written. The next issues of the SWCD, DIRT, and Watershed newsletters will go out at the end of January. There are currently 15 sponsors for the SWCD newsletter. Stephanie will be presenting at the FFA Acquaintance Day for McLean Co. Farm Bureau.
