~Kent gave his NRCS report as written.   CSP applications are continuous with a cutoff of June 14th and application evaluation completion of July 11th and field verification and obligation deadline of August 30th.  There is a back log of nearly 60 EQIP applications; which will help securing funding for next year.  All contract reviews have been completed.  CRP new continuous enrollments began on May 13th.  The opportunity for a contribution agreement came late but is underway with a 75% earning rate for the SWCD with a cap of $30,000 to be earned.

~Bev gave her Legislative report.   The Governor signed the final FY14 budget bill (HB 214) and the $515,000 increase for SWCD’s operations was left in the bill.  The Nutrient Reduction Strategy Workgroup has been established to develop strategies to move IL toward compliance of a federal EPA charge to reduce the hypoxic zone in the Gulf of Mexico; Rich Nichols and Lonnie Wilson from our state association are members.  The U.S. House passed a version of the farm bill that took out the food stamp program, however the President has threatened to veto the bill; the ag industry continues to face uncertainty about the farm programs.

~Ross gave his RC report as written.    The website has seen a slight increase in months 4, 5 and 6 reaching a little over 300 people each month.  The Pond Shocking Demonstration will be held August 14th at Bill Beeler’s pond in McLean with Mike Garthaus presenting.  Howard Heatherwick’s SSRP application has been approved for $10,000.  Cover Crop IDOA plot tours may include the Franklin Farm.  Fish/Tree orders have been sent, SWCD pricing available.  Ross attended Soil Health, Cover Crops, Tree Disease, and Feral Hogs sessions at Summer Conference.  Ross also attended Records Managements training in Morris on July 25th.  Ross helped Matt with some field work for Ives Trust on two control structures.

~Jackie gave her Watershed report as written.   The CIG Evergreen Lake Water Quality Demonstration Project is now complete.   Received a $45,000 grant for shoreline stabilization at the beach house area at Comlara Park and the city will pay for the rest.   One producer has enrolled for a wetland and there are several other producers interested.  Wayne will engineer for the project.

~Stephanie gave her AC report as written.   The SWCD Newsletter was production by Leesburg Printing in Florida, which saved $518.69.  The Watershed Newsletter was produced in house which saved $67.60.  The DIRT Newsletter will be sent electronically sometime in September.   Pond Shocking flyers were sent out and put on website and a news released put in the Normalite.  Fish/Tree sale orders sent out and $137.50 was saved. There really are no informational booths left at McLean County Fair but we believe we can get other conservation organizations to share with us next year.  Stephanie will be working at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur, IL on August 28th.  The Beer Nuts basket brought $65 at the Summer Conference live auction.  The McLean County terrariums did not place in the top three and Stephanie bought them back.
